"Bosch’s intelligent energy management solutions help to bundle distributed energy producers and consumers by means of virtual power plants and micro-grids. This forms the base for optimizing the use of available energy as well as flexibilities."
Dirk Breitkreuz, Team Manager Energy
Bosch Software Innovations is applying its longstanding expertise in optimizing and automating business processes in the energy market to the development of new approaches for the smart management of distributed energy systems.
This includes realizing and using new, open software concepts in the smart grid – based on the Bosch system and service platform for the Internet of Things – as well as contributing our know-how to actively influence and design new business models and added value services, above all for distributed energy producers, network operators, traders, and other market participants.
To accomplish this goal, the relevant objects in the smart grid are connected up on a single platform according to the application in question. Basically, this includes all units that produce renewable energy, such as combined heat and power plants, photovoltaic power plants, and wind energy plants. The goal is to implement optimization strategies that meet the needs of individual customers in virtual power plants (VPPs) and to generate added value for all market participants.
This includes the cost-effective balancing of dynamic loads and flexible production as well as the possibility of selling surpluses on the energy market at a profit by bundling distributed production units.
Bosch views this market as an ecosystem in the “internet of energy”, which is increasingly becoming a venue where new partners are making contact with each other and new business models are being forged.
