The OSRAM Ticket Manager

Bosch and OSRAM have connected over 80 different machines, some older than others, at OSRAM’s Berlin location. The plant for xenon automotive lamps now has the “OSRAM Ticket Manager”, with which OSRAM supports its employees as it moves toward digital, flexible production. At the heart of this concept is the Bosch Production Performance Manager. This system takes what can be highly varied streams of machine data and then coordinates, harmonizes, and processes them into useful information – based on rules and in real time. Workers can now simply consult an app for a status report on their machines and systems. It presents a clear overview of any upcoming tasks, such as maintenance work or resupplying materials, allowing them to be organized and assessed. The app also provides access to all information about key tasks.

Data analytics in process engineering at Bosch

At Bosch, highest quality tops the agenda when it comes to coating processes. That’s why the company launched a data analytics project. The objective was to clearly identify the process parameters that have a decisive impact on coating quality and recognize cause/effect correlations that previously went unnoticed. The predictive models developed are then applied to real-time data, in order to promptly detect deviations from the expected quality and, in turn, avoid corresponding quality losses. In projects such as these, we rely on a methodology developed in-house and on the application of complex machine learning methods.

Automotive plant in China pools and visualizes data of their retrofitted machine tools

Bosch Automotive Diesel Systems started a Connected Chiron System project to prove a cost-effective way to retrofit existing systems with IoT functionality. Connected devices such as sensors and RFID chips attached to each unit collect information about the status and performance of machines and sending it to the Production Performance Manager. This provides near real-time analytics and visualization, while the Ticket Management Module directs the information where it’s needed using rule-based tasks. This system ensures visibility into the performance of individual machines, gives insight into the production system, and allows to track each item throughout the assembly line.
