Webinar: Gateways in IoT scenarios

02/14/2017, 4:00 PM CET

February 14, 4:00 pm (CET) | 9:00 am (CST)

Webinar: Connecting things with IoT applications – how gateways can build the bridge.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is all about connecting things and devices. These devices range from sensors and security cameras to vehicles and production machines – we expect that there will be 15 billion connected devices by 2020. Connecting devices results in data that open up new insights, business models, and revenue streams. The insights gained from this data can give rise to new services that can complement the conventional product business.

During the course of more than 150 IoT projects in different domains we detected several IoT patterns which also result in different approaches on how to connect devices. Many IoT solutions are hosted on a cloud environment. Often it is possible to connect devices directly to the backend system. However, for various scenarios there are some recommendations for connecting devices in a more indirect way via gateways. In this webinar, we will have a look on real-world use cases in different domains. Moreover, we will do a comparison between gateway- and non-gateway-based IoT solutions, and show the benefits of an open-standards based framework leveraging OSGi and Java technologies.

Who is the webinar for?

This 30-minute webinar is free of charge and aimed at IoT project leaders, IoT software architects, and OSGi/Java enthusiasts.

The webinar includes

  • Different approaches on how to connect devices – overview of IoT patterns
  • Benefits of using gateways as mediators between devices and IoT applications
  • Real-world use cases for gateway-based IoT solutions
