REWE and Innovations won RETA Technology Award Europe 2010

Congratulations to the development teams at REWE Group and Innovations Software Technology GmbH on winning the RETA Technology Award 2010 in the best enterprise solution category.

Last night, the EHI Retail Institute announced the winners of the 2010 RETA Technology Award at EuroCIS, a conference that celebrates excellence in retail IT solutions. REWE´s central store management system ZAM, which was developed from a close collaboration between REWE Informationssysteme GmbH and Innovations Software Technology GmbH, won best enterprise solution.

Transparent Processes

Based on ZAM, all core merchandise management processes are implemented in a transparent way and in alignment with the individual store requirements. The most important processes include item/location based online inventory management, real-time processing of cash register receipt data, automated order creation and inventory during business hours, shelf space management, store accounting, and a fully automated tracking and tracing of goods within the supply chain. All stores, headquarters, warehouses, logistics, and suppliers are completely integrated into the REWE process chain.

Modern Technologies

ZAM’s lean architecture allows for the highest standards in performance, scalability, and availability for both main and store systems. All information derived by in- and outbound events are processed in real-time and archived in detail.

All stores are connected to the headquarters via a Virtual Private Network (VPN) and are equipped with a wireless LAN infrastructure. Store employees use mobile devices to identify and operate the latest article data directly on the shelfs. All terminals, checkouts, and back office systems are automatically updated with the latest software release.

Economic Benefits

High user satisfaction at the stores, independent partners’ facilities, and headquarters reveals that ZAM’s objectives have been achieved. These goals include reducing time from demand to delivery to up to less than one day, significantly reducing out of stock and handling costs, and the automatization of staff planning, to name a few.
