Mercedes-Benz press release
For drivers of Mercedes-Benz and smart e-vehicles, public charging is about to become a part of everyday life thanks to “Charge&Pay for Mercedes-Benz” – a free Bosch Software Innovations smartphone app that makes locating and using almost every web-enabled charging point easier and more convenient. All it takes is a one-time registration and a PayPal account. The app will be available free of charge for iOS and Android operating systems from December 2014.
Drivers of e-vehicles are often uncertain about the availability of charging infrastructure. To be as mobile and as flexible as they would be with a conventional combustion vehicle, they may be obliged to use a public charging point during their journey. But not only does this charging point have to be easy to find and available when you need it, it also has to belong to the provider with whom they have a contract. E-mobility becomes especially challenging when attempting longer journeys. Now the new “Charge&Pay for Mercedes-Benz” app will make these headaches a thing of the past. Users of the app can find charging points, check availability, and manage the charging process via their smartphone. Various charge spot operators have been integrated into the app, which means it covers nearly all accessible, web-enabled charging points. What’s more, “Charge&Pay for Mercedes-Benz” provides flexible, transparent billing with no minimum contract term or service charges. Before the in-app payment process starts, the user receives an overview of each charge spot operator’s pricing conditions. This is followed by a secure data transaction via PayPal. A clear, comprehensive statement listing all charging sessions is available anytime in the app’s logbook.
“Charge&Pay for Mercedes-Benz” is provided by Bosch Software Innovations and will be available first in Germany. Further European markets are set to follow.
